Preparing for Your Hip Arthroscopy

• Complete pre-registration and pre-admission processes at least 7 days before surgery.
• Attend your mandatory PreAdmit appointment for surgical clearance - This is scheduled with Texas Orthopedic Hospital at (713) 794-3525.
• Stop taking NSAIDs (e.g., Aleve, Advil, Ibuprofen) 5 days before surgery.
• Do not eat or drink anything after midnight the night before surgery.
• Arrange for someone to drive you home and stay with you the night after surgery.
• Consider purchasing an ice machine for post-operative care (optional).
• You will be fitted with a specialized brace either before or on the day of surgery.
• Prepare your home for your return (e.g., remove tripping hazards, prepare meals).
